It was astounding how dull being alone could be, just sitting solitary in your room, with nothing to do and no one to talk to.  

"What has my life come to?  I am literally doing nothing," you said to yourself.  Fortunately your cell phone rang soon after your statement.  "Hello?"

"'Ello love!"  

"Arthur?  Hey, how's it going?"

"Splendid, say (Name) dear, would you like to come over for tea?"  The brit asked, you noticed that he sounded more cheery than usual.  

"Sure, that sounds great, I was bored out of my mind.  I'll be over in a bit."  It was vital that you took advantage of Arthur's good mood, he isn't in one often.  

"Smashing!  See you soon~"  The dial tone met your ears in a slightly eerie manner, trying to think nothing of it you put on your shoes and headed out the door.

The combination of the cold and your bare knuckles hitting the thick wooden door stung your fingers.

"Arthur!  Open up, it's (Name)!"  Chilly winds made your bones quake, "geeze it's freezing."  All of the thoughts about the cold disappeared when the door opened.  

"Oh golly!  I didn't expect you here so soon~  The tea isn't even ready, no matter, come in dear it is quite cold out."  Shock almost paralyzed you, but you were able to step into Arthur's house.  He was...different.  After following him to the foyer you found your voice.

"Wow, Arthur, did you dye your hair?  And get color contacts?"  When he spun around to face you, you jumped slightly.  His face was a mixture of shock, blank-ness, and calculations.  Like he was taking in everything and processing what to do.  "...Or something?"  It was surprising you could speak without your voice cracking.

"Oh, yes~  I wanted to try something new, you see.  Do you like it?"  

"Um, yeah.  I mean, it's different but nice."  Different was an understatement, he was completely changed.  His bright clothes, blue eyes, strawberry hair, and bubbly personality.  Was this even the same person?  You couldn't tell, also you couldn't tell if this was bad.  Initially people, including you, shy away from change.  Especially if that change came to your friend, it was only natural you would be weary of such a drastic outcome.  

However your comment pleased him, he clapped his hands together in delight and smiled brightly.

"Oh good!  Now how about that tea?  It should be done by now~" Arthur was already halfway to the kitchen before you could agree.  Sitting down on a couch you thought more about how you felt about this change.  What caused it?  He was fine the way he was, fine enough for you anyway.  Arthur is a great friend, a bit of a stiff but witty and sarcastic.  The light "clink" of the tea cup brought you back to reality.  "Here you are dear."  

"Thanks."  You picked up the cup, it wasn't one Arthur typically used, it was more delicate.  He sat opposite of you with a matching cup of his own.  You cleared your throat.  "So, I thought you were gone for a meeting today," making small talk always seemed awkward to you.

"Oh, that, it was postponed."  He smiled staring at you.  Yeah, little creepy.  Neverless you sipped your tea.  Again, it tasted different than Arthur's usual tea, for one it was way sweeter, and...something else.  You stared into the liquid trying to place the taste.  "Something the matter, love?"

"Huh?" You looked at him, still smiling and staring.  "No, no.  Is this a new tea?"  

"Indeed!  You certainly have a smart tongue (Name)~  Do you like it?"  Again, he asked for your approval.  

"Well, it's different."  

"What's your opinion on different (Name)?"  You tilted your head to show your confusion.  "Do you like different?"  It clicked right then, he was asking about himself.  

Surely you can't hurt your friend's feelings, but you don't lie.  "I don't mind different, it just takes some time getting use to.  It can go either way."  He chuckled.

"True love, you just have to try it out."  He raised his cup like he was proposing a toast.  You raised yours as well and sipped more.  The sweetness did taste good, it was a bit overbearing at first, but you got use to it after you had half the cup.  It was good.  It made you feel warm.  "So, how's the tea~?"  His voice cooed.  

"Nice.  The old tea is good...but this is nice too...I like both." His smile widened.  "It's...nice..."  For some reason you barely registered him getting up and sitting down beside you on the couch.

"Could you like this tea as much as the old tea?" Instead of verbally answering you just nodded your head.  Gently he took the cup away from you and put it on the table, it didn't matter to you much, you were almost done.  And right now you were just focusing on staying awake, your eyelids felt like they weighed two tons.

It was impossible to fight off sleep, you leaned back into the couch.  

"That's right, love.  Just relax~"  He coaxed, you felt him caress your cheek softly.  Obeying, you closed your eyes.
